Project H.O.P.E - Helping Others through Prayer and Evangelisation
A Collaboration of the JRS & Weekend Catechism of St Ignatius Church for Lent 2007

Dear Parents & Families,

A warm welcome to all of you! We hope that you will enjoy surfing our website as a family.

Besides learning more about the JRS and reading reports on the current refugee issues, you can also read about how some Singaporean parishioners and students have supported JRS. Read about them when you click "sharings" on the left hand side of the page. Don't miss the sharing done by the ALIVE youth group from your very own St Ignatius Church!

Also, take a look at our publication - Refugee Voice to read about some of our past events, the projects we have undertaken and continue to support.

We hope that this project will open the hearts and minds of you and your families to the plight of the refugees and we pray that you will continue to support the mission of the JRS.

The Programme for Project H.O.P.E.

Project H.O.P.E. begins on the weekend of 3rd and 4th March 2007 and draws to a close on weekend of 10 and 11 March 2007.

It will complement the seasonal lesson and involve the primary level classes.

There will be 4 specific activities namely:

"Surfing Together"- Parents Surfing the JRS site with Children (on-going)

We invite you as parents to lend your support by viewing the JRS website www.jrssingapore.org with your children and, as a family, to find out more about the refugee situation.

"At The Borders With Burma" – JRS CD Presentation (only 3/4 Mar)

The children will be viewing a short video presentation with young people narrating their experience at the border.

"A Walk Together"- Visual Display of JRS activities (3/4 Mar and 10/11 Mar)

An exhibition about the refugee situation will be held at the Sacred Heart Hall. Families are invited to visit.

"Praying with the Refugees"- Prayer Card/Envelope Activity (class)

Our children will also be encouraged to make prayer cards and prayer envelopes which will be offered up during Lent and will eventually be sent to the refugee children.
