Archbishop Nicholas Chia Visits Sri Lanka
    Dec 2004

" In December 2004, Archbishop Nicholas Chia visited some of the refugee camps in Sri Lanka with Fr Colin Tan SJ and a team of JRS volunteers from Singapore. The group was accompanied by Fr PS Amalraj SJ, JRS Regional Director for South Asia.

The trip was a real eye-opener for the group as they experienced firsthand the difficult living conditions faced by the refugees. Archbishop Chia was particularly touched by the trip. In his homily at the World Refugee Day Mass in June 2006, His Grace recounted the trip and encouraged Catholics to go on mission trips and do their part to help the poor and disadvantaged."
